Caring for family member with COVID-19 (Certified by a medical professional) or family member who has been quarantined (Certified by a medical professional) due to COVID-19.

  1. FMLA

    1. Qualify for FMLA
       

    2. Need to send email to LeaveofAbsences@gillig.com as soon as you receive test results and HR will walk you through the process.
       

    3. Must complete GILLIG LOA form and provide medical certification

       

  2. PAY

    1. You may use unused sick, floating holiday or vacation pay to supplement your PFL wages up to 40% or for FMLA leave time beyond the six weeks.
       

      • Below are some examples of potential paid time off payouts at 40%:

      1. Teamster – Specialist B Assembler
        $32.03/hr x 40 hrs x 40% = $512.48/wk or 16 hrs/wk

         

      2. Teamster – Journeyperson Assembler
        $34.94/hr x 40 hrs x 40% = $559.04/wk or 16 hrs/wk

         

      3. Painter – Specialist B
        $35.05/hr x 40 hrs x 40% = $560.80/wk or 16 hrs/wk

         

      4. Painter – Journeyperson
        $37.96/hr x 40 hrs x 40% = $607.36/wk or 16 hrs/wk

         

      • If you exhaust all your unused sick, floating holiday and vacation pay we are offering employees the option to use 1 year of accrued sick, floating holiday, or vacation pay in advance (i.e. this pay would be granted on your next anniversary).

         

  3. BENEFITS

    • Health Benefits

    1. Teamsters – You will be eligible for up to 6 months of paid benefit coverage if you are on FMLA leave. If your leave extends beyond 6 months you will be eligible for COBRA Benefits at your own cost.
       

    2. Painters – You will be eligible for a minimum of 3 months of paid benefit coverage if you are on FMLA leave. To determine if you are eligible for more than 3 months please contact Painters Union at http://www.dc16iupat.org or (925) 245-1080.
       

    • Retirement

    1. Automotive Industries – must have at minimum 1 hour of work in the month to be eligible for the monthly contribution. Hours worked include vacation, floating holiday, bereavement, and/or jury duty. Sick hours are not considered worked hours.
       

    2. Western Conference – contributions are based on hours worked capping at 2080 hours in a year. Hours worked include vacation, sick, floating holiday, bereavement, and/or jury duty.
       

    3. 401(k) – must have a minimum of 8 hours worked in the month to receive monthly contribution. Hours worked include vacation, sick, floating holiday, bereavement, and/or jury duty.

       

  4. UNION

    • You must notify the Union as soon as you are placed on a leave of absence

    1. Teamster

      • Teamsters Benefit Trust – please complete the blue Leave form and submit it to the address provided on the form or contact the Teamsters Benefit Trust at 510-796-4676 or 800-533-0119.
         

      • Suspend Union Dues – please go to XXX and submit a request to suspend your Union Dues while you are on leave.
         

      • Painters – TBD
